Balancing on a Molecule (Dirt: Part Three)

David Finkelstein

A collage of poetic imagery, music, and invocatory language, the film follows two men in a series of esoteric experiments. Their words gives rise to desert landscapes, populated by sweat lodges, snakes, and an unusual game of tennis. A postmodern video opera, Balancing on a Molecule bathes the viewer in music, language, and visual spectacle.

Poets' Pier

Mara Miksch

The Poets’ Pier reveals the wonders of life on, around, and below the Olga Public Dock. Carolyn Cruso performs maritime poems by Pablo Neruda, Jack Spicer, Elizabeth Akers Allen, D.H. Lawrence, and William Wordsworth to underscore the timeless magic, fragility, and joy of life along the shores of the Salish Sea. Photogenic herons, perch, seagulls, crab, eagles, jellies, seals and people create an interspecies community that is both real and aspirational.

Wandering In Beauty

Nadia Bongo

Wandering in Beauty is a poetic short about a woman who wanders in Prospect Park while she, along with a few people and things encountered, speaks about beauty. Because it partly informs her ideas of beauty, the woman also confronts her past.
